The Voice's Adam Levine Hilariously Shades BFF Blake Shelton
The Voice is spicing things up.
Host Carson Daly shocked judges Adam Levine, John Legend, Kelsea Ballerini and Michael Bublé by revealing an unexpected season 27 twist during the NBC singing competition series' May 5 episode.
"Coaches, lend me your ears," Daly announced at the end of the latest episode. "I come with great news."
"We've always intended to keep the best artists on this show for the longest amount of time," the former TRL host continued. "We're going to allow each of you to bring back one more artist for the Top 8 live shows. The super-save is on."
The revelation that all four judges could bring back an additional contestant left everyone with their jaws on the floor.
As Legend reacted, "Have you realized the stress you unnecessarily put on us? They didn't tell me I was going to be able to pick three all along."
Meanwhile, Bublé exclaimed, "How did you keep this secret?" and Ballerini added, "I'm overstimulated."
Daly left fans with a final thought: "We love a good plot twist."
The judges then went to tell their respective teams the good news. However, viewers will have to wait until the May 12 live show to meet all four of the super-save hopefuls.
Of course, this isn't the only exciting The Voice news as of late. Last month, the reality series announced Snoop Dogg will return as a coach for season 28.

Meanwhile, Levine—who exited the show in 2019 and returned for the most recent season—recently revealed the real reason he wanted to reclaim his swivel chair after taking some time off.
“I just felt like it was time,” the Maroon 5 frontman told E! News correspondent Will Marfuggi in January. “I had some time to reflect and do my thing and be with my family.”
As he put it, “I was ready to do it, then the stars aligned and here I am.”
The Voice airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on NBC. In the meantime, keep reading to see when more of your favorite TV shows return or premiere this year.
