But it’s a formula for disaster when it comes to the recent drafting of quarterbacks, where “more is more.” And “most” is close to best.

Decades ago, Hall of Fame head coach Bill Parcells computed a magic number for drafting quarterbacks (30 career starts) that seems to be back in vogue in the NFL.

In a world where top-five picks Anthony Richardson Sr. and Trey Lance flopped while Bo Nix and Tyler Shough quickly exceeded consensus scouting opinions, the most important number in evaluating a quarterback prospect these days is career college starts. The last five years have added a black-and-white element to the gray area of quarterback scouting.
