Green Bay Packers legend Clay Matthews addressed his rumored body transformation after photos of him looking a lot different first surfaced on Friday.
“It’s official: I’ve had some work done,” the retired All-Pro linebacker wrote Wednesday on X, including his new ad for Caesars Sportsbook, which showed him sporting a massive cleft chin and flexing his muscles.
“I know what you’re thinking — someone’s had some work done,” said Matthews, who had his long hair tied back in his signature bun.
At one point in the ad, Matthews showed the app on his phone and said it was “nipped and tucked” and it’s “barely recognizable.”
Matthews explained that he had makeup and prosthetics on in the “over the top” ad.
“I’ve done a lot of things throughout my career, but this was definitely a first. The second I heard the idea, I was in,” Matthews said in a press release.
“The makeup, the prosthetics, the whole concept was completely over the top, and we had a lot of fun bringing it to life.”
Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning special effects studio Legacy Effects were behind Matthews’ dramatic transformation.
The Super Bowl champ also reposted a TMZ photo that showed him out and about on Friday in a green sweatsuit, and captioned it, “Gigaclay” with a muscle emoji.
A first-round pick, 26th overall, by the Packers in the 2009 NFL draft, Matthews spent 10 seasons with Green Bay — and won a Super Bowl with the team in the 2010 campaign.
Matthews finished his career with the Los Angeles Rams, recording 91.5 sacks, 519 tackles, 130 tackles for loss, 17 forced fumbles and six interceptions.
The USC product retired in 2019.
