Super Bowl LX is set.
The most unpredictable season in a generation will fittingly end with the once-unthinkable matchup of 23-year-old Drake Maye and the Patriots facing Sam Darnold’s Seahawks for the Lombardi Trophy in Santa Clara, Calif., on Feb. 8.
The Seahawks advanced with a thrilling 31-27 win over the Rams in Seattle, where Darnold, the former Jets bust, threw for 346 yards and three touchdowns in a duel with MVP front-runner Matthew Stafford (374 yards, three touchdowns).
Darnold, who is in his first season with the Seahawks and on his fifth team in the past six seasons, has led Seattle to the Super Bowl for the first time in 11 years. In that appearance, Pete Carroll infamously failed to hand the ball to Marshawn Lynch with a chance to win a second consecutive title, allowing the Patriots’ Malcolm Butler to steal the championship with a goal-line interception of Russell Wilson.
