Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders was the subject of an ill-timed prank call during the 2025 NFL Draft. Later, it turned out to be Jax Ulbrich, the son of Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich.
The NFL has since fined both the Falcons and Ulbrich for the incident, but there are a lot of things circulating regarding this incident.
While the Sanders-prank call debate is fluid, Adam Schefter revealed one text he received that suggests that Deion Sanders and Shedeur Sanders are to blame.
‘The Shedeur prank thing is awful, but shows their naivete by not hiring an agent. The fact that they had the league send his number to the entire football distribution list was such a mistake, one that wouldn’t have happened with an agent, who would’ve handled that communication. I’ve never seen the league share a draft prospect’s number with the entire distribution list. As soon as I saw the email on draft day, I was like, ‘Oh no,’ and the league probably shouldn’t have disseminated it the way that they did, knowing it was ripe for abuse.'
Now, since Shedeur Sanders didn't have a traditional agent, they listed his number instead.
"The league listed Shedeur Sanders name and his number because he was self-represented," Schefter added. "In this particular case, there are a lot of people to blame, including the National Football League."
Since then, Sanders hired Drew Rosenhaus to be his agent, although Schefter's comments make people wonder if the prank call could've been prevented if he had an agent to begin with.
