‘The Monkey’ Comes to Digital, But When Will ‘The Monkey’ Movie Be Streaming?

The King of horror just keeps delivering for Hollywood. The latest horror movie based on a Stephen King story, The Monkey, is coming to digital platforms tomorrow. So if you missed this one in theaters, now is your chance.

Written and directed by Osgood Perkins, and based on the 1980 short story by Stephen King of the same name, The Monkey follows two twin brothers who discover their father’s vintage—and very creepy—toy monkey in their attic. Shortly after, they begin witnessing horrifying deaths. They part ways as they grow, and try to leave the trauma behind them… but you can’t outrun the past.

Theo James stars as both twin brothers, and the supporting cast includes Tatiana Maslany, Christian Convery, Colin O’Brien, Rohan Campbell, Sarah Levy, Adam Scott, and Elijah Wood. My vote? Burn that creepy monkey ASAP!

The Monkey movie digital release date:

The Monkey is expected to be released on premium video-on-demand tomorrow, on Friday, April 4. However, Neon has not yet announced or confirmed this release, so it is subject to change.

That said, we do expect that starting tomorrow on April 4, The Monkey movie will be available to buy and rent on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime the movie will cost $24.99 to buy.

How to rent The Monkey online:

The Monkey is not yet available to rent on digital platforms like Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Vudu, and more. You can only buy the film, starting tomorrow. The movie costs $24.99 to preorder.

The Monkey is not yet available on a subscription streaming service, but we do expect to see The Monkey streaming on Hulu eventually, because The Monkey is a Neon movie, and most Neon movies tend to go to Hulu, thanks to the Hulu and Neon output deal.

When will The Monkey movie be streaming on Hulu?

Unless the final stage of the Disney+ and Hulu merger finally happens, you’ll likely see  The Monkey streaming on Hulu sometime in the next six months. Another Neon movie, Cuckoo, began streaming on Hulu a little over four months after it opened in theaters. If The Monkey follows a similar release pattern, you may see The Monkey on Hulu around late June 2025. On the other hand, another Neon release, It Lives Inside, began streaming on Hulu just three months after opening in theaters—so it’s not a hard and fast rule.
