Amanda Seyfried got to be completely unhinged in The Housemaid, the 2025 erotic thriller that released on digital platforms earlier this month. And she absolutely loved every minute of it.
“I almost feel bad, at this point, for Sydney and Brandon,” Seyfried—referencing her co-star Sydney Sweeney and Brandon Sklenar—said in an interview for a behind-the-scenes featurette. “Because I really do have the best role in this. I do!”
An exclusive clip from The Housemaid bonus features, which you can watch in the video player at the top of this page, takes viewers behind the scenes of what Seyfried said is her favorite scene in the film. (Bonus features are available to those who purchase the film on digital platforms like Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and more; and will also be available on the on Blu-ray and DVD release, out March 17.)
The scene in question takes place soon after Seyfried’s character, Nina, hires a live-in maid named Millie (Sweeney). Despite Nina’s seemingly perfect life as a wealthy, married mother, she quickly starts to display some signs of emotional instability. For example, when she can’t find her notes for an upcoming PTA meeting, she accuses Millie of hiding them. Millie denies the accusation, and Nina snaps, tearing apart her own kitchen in a rage.
“My favorite scene, of course, is going to be the kitchen scene, where I’m throwing shit around,” Seyfried says in an interview from the clip. “I do whatever I want to do, and the camera’s going to follow me. Having that kind of freedom is so essential to a performance like that.”

The clip shows Seyfried slamming drawers, smashing dishes, and throwing a full jug of milk on the floor, milk spilling everywhere.
“At one point I threw a dish on the floor and I almost hit Sydney,” Seyfried recalled with a laugh. “I was like, ‘I’m sorry! I got carried away!’ But she’s, of course, beyond a team player. She welcomes it.”
And just in case you weren’t convinced Seyfried was enjoying herself while crashing out on screen, she most definitely is.
“This is on record as the most fun character I’ve played since Karen in Mean Girls,” Seyfried said confidently.
More fun than using her breasts to predict the weather? More fun than asking people why their white? More fun than being a mouse, duh? That’s pretty high praise!

The Housemaid was well-liked by critics and audiences alike, and earned over $309 million at the worldwide box office, making it a box office hit. Such a hit, in fact, that Lionsgate has already ordered up a sequel.
The Housemaid will be available March 17 on Blu-ray and DVD from Lionsgate.
