‘The Forsytes’ Star Stephen Moyer Breaks The News That PBS Already Renewed His Show For Two More Seasons — Before Season 1 Has Even Premiered!

Masterpiece on PBS‘s hotly-anticipated new period drama, The Forsytes, has landed not just a Season 2 order, but also a Season 3 order weeks before the first season makes its late March 2026 debut.

The Forsytes star Stephen Moyer broke the news this morning while visiting Page Six Radio on Sirius XM, while also sharing how extraordinary the move from Masterpiece is.

“I’ve got a little bit of new for you guys, which is kind of exciting,” Moyer told Page Six Radio hosts Evan Real and Danny Murphy. “And this is being broken here for the first time.”

“I’ve been doing this 35 years, and it’s the first time I’ve ever been involved with a show where not only did we get the second season pickup before the first season had aired, we got the season three pickup.”

The Forsytes is Poldark showrunner Debbie Horsfield’s new interpretation of John Galsworthy’s beloved family drama book series, The Forsyte Saga. The Forsytes opens a little bit before the events of the original novel, to show how Young Jolyon Forsyte’s (Danny Griffin) marriage to high society queen Frances (Tuppence Middleton) initially soured. We also get a new look at Soames Forsyte (Joshua Orpin) and his pursuit of aspiring ballerina Irene Heron (Millie Gibson) as well as June Forsyte’s (Justine Moore) sweet romance with socially-liberal architect Philip Bosinney (Jamie Flatters). Past adaptations of Galsworthy’s books, including Masterpiece‘s 2002 version, dove straight into the drama that followed, which includes several scandalous divorces and steamy love affairs.

“Fans of the books will know that we are loosely following the book, so there may be some of those plot threads that come in future seasons,” The Forsytes star Joshua Orpin told DECIDER in our studio this morning. “We’re putting the wheels in motion in Season 1, and then we’re going to feel a bit more of the fallout in Season 2.”

Stephen Moyer plays Young Jolyon’s father, Jolyon Forsyte, Sr., who often finds himself at odds with his competitive younger brother (and Soames’s father) James (Jack Davenport).

“We’re starting [production on] Season 3 in May,” Moyer told Page Six Radio. The Forsytes Season 2 wrapped filming last summer.

All six episodes of The Forsytes will be available to stream on PBS Passport on March 22. Alternatively, you can tune into Masterpiece on PBS every Sunday night between March 22 and April 26 to find out what’s going on with those Forsyte men and women.
