Gird your loins! It’s the ‘Devil’ in disguise.
Signs for a movie project named “Cerulean” have been popping up in New York. But Page Six sources think it’s actually a code name for the “Devil Wears Prada” sequel.
When movies and TV shows are shooting on the streets of New York, they’re required by law to post signs in advance. But sometimes shoots with big-name talent try to use tricky techniques to throw off the paparazzi and autograph hounds.
Notifications went up this week in Midtown on 5th Avenue between 36th and 38th Streets alerting residents they would be filming in the area on Tuesday, warning them to move their cars by Monday at 10 PM to avoid being towed.
The project name was listed as “Cerulean,” the color used in a famed monologue given by Meryl Streep’s character Miranda Priestly — a stern editor of a glossy mag based on Vogue’s Anna Wintour — about the cultural reach of the fashion industry.
Priestly tells Runway magazine employee Andy Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway, her “sweater is not just blue, it’s not turquoise, it’s not lapis: it’s actually cerulean.”
“That blue represents millions of dollars of countless jobs, and it’s sort of comical how you think that you’ve made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you’re wearing a sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room… from a pile of ‘stuff’,” she scolds.
On Wednesday, Grant Wilfley Casting also shared an open casting call for background actors for “DWP2,” who were “chic, stylish, fashion-forward people” to film in Manhattan July 29 and 30.
The movie is also shooting in Italy.
Production started in June and welcomes back the original cast of Streep, Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci.
Adrian Grenier, who played Nate, Andy’s boyfriend, will not be returning.
According to reports, the plot will focus on Priestly as she tries to navigate the new media landscape and attempts to get advertising dollars from her former assistant, played by Blunt, who now works as an executive at Christian Dior.
The original was based on the novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger, who had previously worked as Wintour’s assistant.
The sequel is expected to be released in May 2026.
