The Toronto Blue Jays have the best record in baseball.
It's the latest in the season that has happened since 1992.
And while there are a number of explanations, the simplest is this: These guys can really, really hit. Like, every single dude on the roster rakes.
Consider this statistic: Since May 28, when they were eight games back in the AL East, every hitter on the Blue Jays has been at or above league average.
The stat weighted runs created-plus measures offensive productivity on a scale in which 100 equates to league average, and each bump up (101, 102, etc.) means an additional percent better than league average.
Check this out:
Since May 28th, the Blue Jays have an entire rosters worth of hitters that are at or above league average.

Some of those guys are expected to be stars, like George Springer and Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Then you've got the incredible breakout season of Addison Barger and the impressive growth of Ernie Clement.
But goodness, when guys like Will Wagner, Davis Schneider, Joey Loperfido and Tyler Heineman are going well? That's when you know it's a good year.
And in Toronto, right now, it's a very good year.
