Joe Rogan recently reflected on America’s recurring pattern of control, corruption, and unintended consequences. He expressed frustration at how regulation often drives the very problems it seeks to prevent.
Speaking on episode #2409 of The Joe Rogan Experience, the UFC color commentator argued that when institutions attempt to ban or heavily restrict activities like gambling, it rarely solves the problem. Instead, it seemingly forces those habits underground and organized crime fills the void.
He also pointed to the ongoing scandal surrounding the UFC as proof that corruption doesn’t vanish with tighter rules. He said:
“The corruption's so like up your a*s and in your face. Like, what are you going to do?... Move to New York. Become a socialist. Try that out. Jesus!... The craziest thing about this country is that the places with the most gun violence are the cities that have the tightest gun control, right? Yeah. Like, boy, you talk about counterintuitive. Yeah. I wonder if that's our same problem with drugs.”Get the latest updates on One Championship Rankings at Sportskeeda and more
He added:
“This is my argument against gambling too, especially online gambling. You know, if online gambling becomes somehow or another illegal, like if they stop with these apps, like let's say some people decide, look, there’s so many people that are losing their money and going crazy and getting addicted to sports books that we're going to have to ban all these apps that allow you to bet on sports. And then there's a scandal that happened with the NBA, and there's another scandal with the UFC. So it's clear that organized crime is getting involved and people are trying to make money with rigging bets and sh*t like that. So we're going to make it illegal.”Check out Joe Rogan's comments below (1:25:00):
Joe Rogan reveals why he quit betting on UFC fights
Joe Rogan opened up about his early years of betting on UFC fights during a conversation with Russell Crowe. Back then, he often placed small wagers and even shared picks with his friend Aubrey Marcus, who won frequently based on Rogan’s advice.
Over time, he recognized the ethical concern of gambling while working for the UFC and decided to stop. Speaking on the episode #2406 of The Joe Rogan Experience, he said:
“So I used to gamble in the UFC when I first started working for them, and then I was like, I don’t think I should do this anymore. This is a long time ago, though... So, at a certain point in time, I stopped just on my own gambling... Because people were accusing me of being biased one way or the other anyway, which maybe I was. You know, I got better at that, but I wanted to make sure that no one thought that.”Why did you not like this content?
