The expectation was Roman Wilson would take a step forward for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2025, but that didn't come close to happening.
Even with the Steelers having one of the worst wide receivers rooms in the NFL, the 2024 third-round pick barely played and finished the season with 12 catches for 166 yards and two touchdowns.
Looking ahead to 2026, Wilson is facing a make-or-break year, but there might be a reason for hope thanks to the new coaching staff.
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Gerry Dulac, it doesn't appear that former offensive coordinator Arthur Smith was a big fan of Wilson.
He also notes that the Steelers haven't totally lost faith in the Michigan product.
"I don't yet, but I don't think they plan to give up on him," Dulac said. "He has a lot of natural ability that I think will still make him a quality receiver. For some reason, there was something Arthur Smith didn't like about him."
Dulac didn't make it clear what that something was, but this at least gives Wilson a shot of hope going into a crucial offseason.
