The 1 thing Guardians' roster is missing before MLB postseason

The Cleveland Guardians have stuck to a basic formula to be a competitive baseball team. 

Deploy an excellent pitching staff and small ball to beat the other team to death while hitting the occasional home run. 

That's been the case for several years, with All-Star third baseman Jose Ramirez providing most of the power over that span. 

But Ramirez has just 12 home runs in 120 games, and other members of Cleveland's lineup haven't picked up the slack in the slugging department. 

"The Guardians have seven players who have hit at least a dozen home runs this season, but none of them have more than 15," Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller wrote.

"And with the exception of Chase DeLauter, no one on the roster even has a .760 OPS. (Though, Steven Kwan has very much turned a corner and has an .875 OPS since struggling through the first three months.)" Miller added. 

Can the Guardians make a deep postseason run without much power? 

Rhys Hoskins was brought in to help increase the long balls, but the veteran first baseman/DH is on the IL and hit just 13 homers before that.

Outfielder Angel Martinez leads Cleveland's offense with 17 homers, a rarity in today's baseball landscape. 

Their best hope for power comes from DeLauter and trade deadline acquisition Jo Adell. 

However, don't hold your breath that the Guardians are going to change their play style. The front office's search for more slugging may have to wait until the offseason.
