Following the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel's late-night show owing to the comedian and host's comment on Charlie Kirk's assassination and Trump's political party, Ted Cruz has warned the Right concerning the same.

The U.S Senator commented on the conservatives using political influence to silence Kimmel during a recent episode of his Verdict with Ted Cruz podcast.

“That will end up bad for conservatives. There will come a time when a Democrat wins again, wins the White House. They will get rid of everything America that’s conservative. They’ll get rid of every podcast. They’ll get rid of everything. They will silence us. They will use this power and they will use it ruthlessly and that is dangerous,” Cruz said.

Ted Cruz's comment concerned FCC Chairman Brendan Carr's involvement in having Kimmel's late-night show pre-empted from ABC. According to CNN's report dated September 18, 2025, Brendan Carr suggested, "We can do this the easy way or the hard way,” resulting in Jimmy Kimmel's late night show being taken off the air.

Commenting on the FCC chairman's influence, Ted Cruz compared Carr to a "mafioso", referring to the latter's threat to go after ABC's broadcasting licenses following Kimmel's comment on Charlie Kirk's assassination.

What did Jimmy Kimmel say about Charlie Kirk's demise? Details explored amid Senator Ted Cruz's statement on the Right

Following Charlie Kirk's assassination, Jimmy Kimmel made a comment on the situation on September 14, 2025, where he said:

"We had some new lows over the weekend with the Maga gang desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and with everything they can to score political points from it.”

Additionally, the comedian and TV host used the cue to crack jokes at Donald Trump. Kimmel displayed a clip of the president discussing renovations of the White House when asked how was he coping with the news of Charlie Kirk's demise.

In the now-viral video clip, Trump said that he was doing "pretty good", further mentioning that the trucks visible at the White House were for the construction of the new ballroom.

Stating how the White House flew the flags at half staff, Kimmel indirectly poked fun at Donald Trump, stating it was noteworthy to witness how hard the president was taking it, adding:

“Yes, he’s at the fourth stage of grief, construction. This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish, OK?”

While Jimmy Kimmel's comment concerning Trump, MAGA, and Charlie Kirk's demise made headlines, the late night show host had also posted a heartfelt message via X after news of Kirk's death was reported.

In his tweet dated September 10, 2025, Kimmel wrote:

"Instead of the angry finger-pointing, can we just for one day agree that it is horrible and monstrous to shoot another human?"

He continued:

“On behalf of my family, we send love to the Kirks and to all the children, parents and innocents who fall victim to senseless gun violence.”

Jimmy Kimmel is yet to make a public statement concerning his show's suspension from ABC. Moreover, ABC has also not made a comment regarding the future of Kimmel's show.
