A revered WWE and AEW legend has revealed that he will soon be returning to work. The individual in question, Jim Ross, has been signed with the Tony Khan-led promotion since the year of its inception.
Good Ol' JR was last seen on pay-per-view duty at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door this past August in the O2 Arena in London, England. He has not performed commentary for All Elite Wrestling television on a regular weekly basis for some time now, as he has been dealing with some health issues lately, undergoing successful surgery for colon cancer in May and suffering a "bad fall" later in July.
Ross addressed improvements in his health and talked about selling his condominium in Jacksonville, Florida on the latest edition of his Grilling JR podcast. The legendary broadcast personality also disclosed that he might be returning to AEW's commentary desk imminently in a "few weeks", potentially in time for the company's upcoming pay-per-view, Full Gear 2025.
"Yeah, absolutely! That’s the plan. In the next few weeks, so, yeah, I’m excited about that opportunity.” [H/T - ITR Wrestling]Is Rhea a Bigger Draw Than Brock Lesnar? - Watch Here!
It remains to be seen whether JR will call the action in the Prudential Center later this month.
Jim Ross on Bryan Danielson's new AEW role
Shortly after making his All Elite Wrestling return at All In : Texas, Bryan Danielson embarked on a new journey in AEW. Having finished his full-time in-ring career at last year's WrestleDream, it was revealed that The American Dragon was officially joining the company's broadcast team as a commentator. He serves as an announcer on Wedesday Night Dynamite alongside Excalibur, Taz, and Tony Schiavone.
Jim Ross addressed Danielson being added to AEW's commentary team on a recent edition of his Grilling JR podcast. He voiced his full confidence in the former World Champion's ability to excel in the role, stating:
“I’m looking forward to it. He’s a studious student of the game. Has a lot of knowledge. He’s more than happy to share, which I think is great. So I like the addition of him. It gets the knowledge out of a talent that has been kind of sequestered (…) Bryan’s a really smart guy, and I heard some of his work. I think he does a good job (…) I have utmost confidence in Bryan Danielson that he’s going to do a tremendous job. He’s smart, he’s studious," JR said.
