On October 27, 2025, fans of BTS' j-hope took to social media after a post on the Korean community forum Nate Pann went viral. An anonymous user claimed that the rapper-dancer was responsible for the allegedly low performance of LE SSERAFIM’s new single Spaghetti (feat. j-hope).

The same user compared the group’s latest chart and sales numbers to their previous comeback and blamed the BTS member’s feature for the difference. The post spread online for criticizing the BTS star's rap verse and lyrics on the track. The viral post stated,

"Because J.-Hope is a follower, Seraphim's previous album didn't do as well as its previous album. J.-Hope even took up 1 minute out of 3 minutes of the song. The lyrics are weird the rap is weird. and why did they use a featuring?.The clean version without J -Hope seems much better..I thought they'd get some kind of BTS ostrich feather rain, but there wasn't any."

However, many fans were quick to defend the rapper. Social media quickly filled with messages of support. Fans expressed anger over what they saw as unfair targeting. They called the viral post ridiculous and baseless. A user wrote,

They pointed out that the claims were exaggerated and lacked context. They noted that Spaghetti is performing well internationally and that its unique concept might just take longer to resonate with domestic listeners.

Others argued that without j-hope’s feature, the song might not have reached such a wide audience in the first place. Some joked that critics were just looking for someone to blame when a chart result didn’t meet expectations. Many also stressed that collaborations between artists from different HYBE labels should be celebrated, not turned into online debates.

LE SSERAFIM’s comeback performance and j-hope’s ongoing activities

LE SSERAFIM released Spaghetti (feat. j-hope of BTS) on October 24 as their first single album of the year. The track blends playful lyrics about flavor and energy with j-hope’s signature rap style, comparing confidence and creativity to cooking a bold dish. The release also included the B-side Pearlies (My Oyster Is the World).

According to reports from Korean media, Spaghetti topped the iTunes Top Songs chart in more than 60 countries and held No. 1 on both the Worldwide and European iTunes Song Charts for two days straight. On Spotify, it reached the group’s highest-ever position on the global chart, while the music video trended in 46 regions.

iTunes update: "SPAGHETTI" has reached #1 on iTunes in at least 60 countries. In the US, the Korean explicit version is up to #2, and the English version #4! 💪💪💪 #EAT_IT_UP_SPAGHETTI #jhope #제이홉 @le_sserafim @BTS_twt

Meanwhile, LE SSERAFIM’s live performances on Music Bank, Show! Music Core, and Inkigayo have been praised for their fun concept and stage charisma. Fans also noted the group’s creative fashion choices and choreography inspired by the “spaghetti” theme.

For j-hope, this is his first major feature with a K-pop girl group since finishing his military service. Along with the collaboration, he is reportedly getting ready for BTS’ upcoming full-group comeback and new album scheduled for spring 2026.

Despite the backlash, Spaghetti continues to trend worldwide. Its music video crossed 20 million views and more than 800k likes on YouTube within days of release.
