The Jets have survived the losses of Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams. But how much longer can they go on without a quarterback?
The Jets’ two-game winning streak came to an end in Thursday night’s 27-14 loss in New England, following another painful performance from Justin Fields.
While the Patriots (9-2) showcased Drake Maye, a second-year starter who could soon become the league’s MVP, Fields made what could be — and probably should be — his final start with the Jets (2-8) after passing for 116 yards and making a series of horrendous throws, reads and decisions.
Fields is averaging 127 passing yards per game with the Jets, placing him behind 38 quarterbacks in the 32-team league. He has thrown for six touchdowns in nine games, putting him in a tie for 30th league-wide.
