A Texas woman who pleaded guilty to threatening to kill the federal judge overseeing Trump’s election fraud case is on the lam after failing to report to prison, according to a report.
Abigail Shry failed to report to a federal correctional facility in Tallahassee, Florida, on Tuesday to serve a 27-month sentence for threatening to kill Judge Tanya Chutkan, according to CBS News.
Abigail Shry failed to report to a federal correctional facility in Tallahassee, Florida, on Tuesday to serve a 27-month sentence for threatening to kill Judge Tanya Chutkan. via REUTERSA judge has since issued a bench warrant for federal agents to locate the fugitive — who has lived in Allen, Texas — and arrest her, the outlet reported.
In November 2024, Shry pleaded guilty to transmission in interstate commerce containing a threat to injure the person of another, according to U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani.
In August 2023, Shry called the office of Chutkan, who was presiding over President Trump’s 2020 election interference case in Washington, DC, and called her a “stupid slave [epithet].”
“If Trump doesn’t get elected in 2024, we are coming to kill you, so tread lightly…” Shry said, according to prosecutors.
Shry also called the late Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) and left her a phone message stating she wanted to kill her and would target her “personally, publicly, your family, all of it,” according to court documents obtained by the outlet.
Lee died 11 months later at age 74 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Both Chutkan and Lee are black.
She also made a direct threat to “all democrats in Washington D.C. and all people in the LGBTQ community,” prosecutors said.
Shry defended her comments in a hearing, stating that she believed the threats fell under freedom of speech and she did not intend to carry them out, officials added.
In August 2023, Shry called the office of Chutkan, who was presiding over former President Donald Trump’s 2020 election interference case in Washington, DC, and threatened to kill her. APA police report reviewed by the outlet said that Shry “contacted several U.S. elected officials in Congress and has made similar threats towards them pertaining to if Donald Trump is not reelected as president, they will also see an attack of the U.S. Capitol.”
Shry also allegedly raved in a July 2023 voicemail message to two Houston-area state senators that there would be “war on the Texas Capitol,” if Attorney General Ken Paxton was impeached, court records stated, according to the outlet.
At Shry’s detention hearing in August 2023, after she launched the vile threat against Chutkan, a federal prosecutor expressed concerns that she would “get herself spun up” and escalate her threats toward government officials.
“There’s no way to gauge what’s going to happen here, except to look at what she’s done in the past six months,” the prosecutor said.
“In this particular instance … I don’t want to be that FBI agent that didn’t go check on Lee Harvey Oswald two days before John Kennedy was assassinated. That happened. And that’s the footnote in history.”
“And I’m standing here before you today because this defendant is unmoored and I believe that there’s going to be more,” the prosecutor eerily said.
Shry’s attorney did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
