Despite being a powerhouse on the football field, Texas hasn't fielded a softball team for long. The Longhorns began play in 1997, making their softball program only 28 years old.
Texas has had some great teams and gone on some remarkable runs. The Longhorns have struggled while watching their top rivals, Oklahoma become a dynasty in the sport. Texas has been to the Women's College World Series nine times in its history, and finally got their first championship in 2025.
