Texas A&M loses former four-star guard to transfer portal

Although the transfer portal has only been open for less than a week, Texas A&M is already losing key pieces. On Thursday, veteran guard Pop Isaacs entered the portal. After one year with the Aggies, the former Big 12 All-Freshman will chase a national title with a new program.

During the 2025-2026 campaign, Isaacs averaged 9.8 points and 2.6 assists per game. He was also a difference maker on the boards with 83 total rebounds. As he made life difficult for opposing coaches, the Las Vegas native added 22 steals to his resume.

Following a solid regular season, the Coronado High Alum was solid during March Madness. In two games, he recorded 11 points and hauled in five rebounds. He also put his teammates in a position to succeed with five assists. While the Aggies' tournament run ended earlier than they hoped, Isaacs made the most of his opportunities with the pressure higher than ever.

As Isaacs looks for a program that can maximize his skills, he brings an impressive resume to the table. Before transferring to Texas A&M, he began his college career at Creighton. He started eight games for the Blue Jays during the 2024-25 season and averaged 16.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. Unfortunately, his breakout was cut short due to a season-ending injury.

While replacing Isaacs will be no easy task, the Aggies also have other holes to fill. Their portal losses so far include Josh Holloway and Ruben Dominguez. This past season, Holloway averaged 4.6 points per game while shooting over 50 percent  from the field. Like Holloway, Dominguez was dangerous with the ball in his hands, shooting 40 percent from three-point range while averaging 10.2 points per game.

Over the next few weeks, Isaacs will be a name to watch as he weighs his options. The former top-50 recruit has shown signs of stardom in the past and will be looking to build on his successful stint with Texas A&M.
