Texans get bad news on Nico Collins for Week 2 matchup vs. Bengals

The Houston Texans in Week 2 are facing the Cincinnati Bengals and will try to avoid dropping to 0-2 on the year after a Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

For this Texans team, which has already lost Jayden Higgins for the year and doesn't yet have Tank Dell back, they got some worrying news after Wednesday's practice when Nico Collins landed on the injury report with a hamstring issue.

Now on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports that Collins is not expected to play in Week 2. Houston will likely be without their top two receivers for their second game of the season.

Nico Collins expected to miss Week 2 matchup vs. Bengals

"Texans Pro Bowl receiver Nico Collins not practicing Friday morning, and not expected to play Sunday after sustaining a Grade 1 hamstring injury Wednesday during practice, per league source," Wilson reports.

This update is not a good sign for the Texans, as Collins' hamstring issue is seemingly bad enough to keep him out for at least one week.

C.J. Stroud and the Texans will have to face a reimagined Bengals defense without their top two pass-catchers. David Montgomery, Xavier Hutchinson, Dalton Schultz, and Kayshon Boutte will be the primary playmakers on offense.

Going from 0-2 to making the playoffs will be tricky, and the Texans will be forced to try to avoid such a scenario without their best player on offense.

While he's yet to be officially ruled out, the Texans are likely to be without Collins in Week 2 as he recovers from a hamstring injury he sustained during Wednesday's practice.

His status for Week 3 will be up in the air as well, though the potential for a return that week is a lot more likely than his odds of suiting up within the week he sustained the injury.
