Terry McLaurin injury update: Huge news for Commanders WR's Week 7 availability

The Washington Commanders' offense looks set to get a huge shot in the arm in Week 7 with wide receiver Terry McLaurin.

McLaurin sustained a quadriceps injury in Week 3 and hasn't played or practiced since. While head coach Dan Quinn expressed optimism that McLaurin could play last week, that did not come to fruition.

However, there is reason for optimism that McLaurin will return to action in Week 7 against the Dallas Cowboys and the source of that optimism comes from head coach Dan Quinn.

Terry McLaurin injury update

According to The Athletic's Nicki Jhabvala, Quinn revealed that McLaurin is going to practice this week, although he didn't say if that would occur on Wednesday.

We'll get an exact answer to that later in the day when the Commanders drop their first injury report.

"Dan Quinn said Terry McLaurin will practice this week," Jhabvala reported.

If that happens, it would mark the first time McLaurin has participated in practice since his injury. It also opens the door for the veteran to play on Sunday.

On Sunday, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero wrote that the Commanders "could get WR Terry McLaurin back next week (now this week)," so that was the first indication that McLaurin could return to action.

The positive update on McLaurin comes on the same day that it was announced fellow wide receiver Noah Brown would be placed on injured reserve, which is a significant blow to Washington's depth.

While McLaurin was sidelined, fellow wideout Deebo Samuel operated as the team's No. 1 wide receiver and was productive, tallying a team-high 315 yards through the air.

Now, if Washington can get those two going together, quarterback Jayden Daniels should eat, as should the Commanders' offense.
