Tennessee's 5-star priority target David Gabriel Georges has reportedly made a silent commitment

The Tennessee football program is going all-in on landing five-star priority target David Gabriel Georges, an in-state prospect who has quickly become one of the biggest names in the 2026 recruiting cycle. DGG is down to Ole Miss, Ohio State, and Tennessee with just two weeks remaining before his commitment.

Tennessee’s entire coaching staff has been heavily involved in Georges’ recruitment. However, no one besides strength and conditioning coach Derek Owings may have played a bigger role in the Vols’ pursuit.

“Owings, who was a key part of Indiana’s national championship run last season (it probably doesn’t happen without him), is one of the top strength coaches in the nation. He’s one of the biggest weapons the Vols have in the battle against Ohio State for Gabriel Georges. And it’s certainly a big positive that Tennessee made sure to make time between photo shoots and fashion shows to show Gabriel Georges what he undoubtedly cares about the most during the visit,” A To Z Sports’ Zach Ragan wrote.

Georges is expected to make significant money regardless of where he chooses to continue his career. The five-star running back is also expected to sign a multi-year NIL deal.

“He’s expected to be in the $1 million range, shy of $2 million,” On3’s Pete Nakos wrote. “It will be a multi-year deal, that’s something the family has talked about. The family is very clear that it wants a multi-year deal, so they have a roadmap for his entire career.”

The latest update in Georges’ recruitment suggests that he may have already made a silent commitment.

“According to Steve Wiltfong of On3, David Gabriel Georges has already made his decision. While the five-star running back is not scheduled to announce his commitment until July 22, the Baylor School standout reportedly knows where he will be continuing his football career,” All For Tennessee’s Conner Linsner wrote.

Ole Miss, Ohio State, and Tennessee are all believed to have a good idea of where Georges’ decision stands, as he has likely communicated his intentions with the programs involved. The Vols have to feel confident about where they currently sit in the recruitment.

Georges is at the very top of Tennessee’s priority list, making this one of the most important recruitments of the Josh Heupel era. Missing out on him would be a major setback for the Vols, but they remain in the fight. Georges has already made his decision — now it is simply a matter of whether his future will be on Rocky Top with Tennessee.
