The United States team at the World Baseball Classic got some bad news on Wednesday when it learned they wouldn't have Arizona Diamondbacks superstar outfielder on the roster due to injury.
The good news for Team USA is that they've got a lot of top-notch replacement options.
MLB insider Jon Morosi shared the list of possible fill-ins on X on Wednesday:
- Steven Kwan
- Tyler Soderstrom
- Riley Greene
- Roman Anthony
- James Wood
- Wyatt Langford
- Kyle Stowers

Those are certainly a lot of great options. The order above is the order Morosi listed them in.
Kwan would fill a lot of the traits Carroll brings, although without as much power.
Anthony would be a bold call, having not even played a full MLB season yet, but the Red Sox phenom is that talented.
Langford might have the most notable power-speed combo in the vein of Carroll.
Wood has the most raw power of the bunch, an absolute destroyer at the plate from the Washington Nationals.

The United States can't go wrong here, and the player they pick might not be a starter. But it's still an important choice with players all ramping up in March. There could be opportunities for everyone to play.
The United States will surely finalize this choice soon, and it'll be fascinating to see who they pick.
