Fast-rising Spaniard Rafael Jodar will get another big spotlight to showcase his talents.
Jodar is joining Team Europe as the fifth member of Yannick Noah’s powerful side for the 10th edition of the Laver Cup to be held Sept. 25-27 at The O2 in London. Team Europe already has commitments from Alexander Zverev (World No. 2), Carlos Alcaraz (World No. 3), Flavio Cobolli (World No. 9) and Jakub Mensik (World No. 19).
The 19-year-old, who will turn 20 just before the competition, has seen his World ranking skyrocket in the past year after playing as a freshman at the University of Virginia in the spring of 2025. He is currently the World No. 25, two spots ahead of 2025 Laver Cup participant Joao Fonseca, who is also 19. They are the only two teenagers in the current top 100.

Jodar enjoyed an amazing clay court season, winning the tournament in Morocco, then reaching the semifinals in Barcelona and the quarterfinals in Madrid, Rome and Roland Garros. He also won his first two career matches at Wimbledon and has a 7-3 record in his 10 Grand Slam matches this year.
“Rafael has had an outstanding season and has earned this opportunity,” Noah said. “He's one of the brightest young talents in our sport and has shown he belongs on the biggest stages. What I like most is the way he competes. He’ll bring energy, belief and a real hunger to Team Europe, and I’m excited to welcome him into the group."
Team World, which has won three of the last four Laver Cups, has its six-man roster set. Alex de Minaur (World No. 5), Ben Shelton (World No. 6), Taylor Fritz (World No. 11), Alexander Bublik (World No. 11), Learner Tien (World No. 15) and Tommy Paul (World No. 24) are lined up for Andre Agassi, who will captain the team for the second straight year.
“"The Laver Cup is unlike anything else in tennis and I can't wait to be part of Team Europe," Jodar said. "Growing up, you watch players like these and dream of one day sharing a team with them. To have that opportunity is incredibly special. I’ll do everything I can to contribute and help Team Europe bring the Cup back."
There is one spot remaining on Team Europe, and Noah may need an additional player if Alcaraz is not healthy enough to return to the team. He has been battling a wrist injury since April. Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner has never participated in the Laver Cup. Some potential names to keep an eye on for Team Europe are Jiri Lehecka, Casper Ruud, Lorenzo Musetti, Andrey Rublev and Luciano Darderi.
