It was just the second drive of the Buffalo Bills' preseason, but already one of their star defenders is hurt.
Taron Johnson went low for a tackle on Giants tight end Greg Dulcich, and his head and neck got turned at an awkward angle.
It was clear on the television broadcast that Johnson knew he'd hurt himself.
He got up and tried to jog off the field to the far sideline by himself, but he eventually took a knee. He "walked off under his own power" according to the CBS broadcast.
Less than 10 minutes later, the CBS broadcast reported that Johnson had been cleared of a potential concussion.

The Bills can't afford to lose Johnson for too long.
He's one of the best nickelbacks in the NFL.
He has played in 100 career games for Buffalo, starting 79.
He has 515 career tackles and six career interceptions.

Buffalo is already down rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston due to a training camp injury.
The Bills also traded away Kaiir Elam this offseason to Dallas.
The cornerback room doesn't have great depth, and Johnson's nickelback spot is especially thin. Cam Lewis can play there, but he was actually playing safety Saturday with both Cole Bishop and Taylor Rapp out.
Tre'Davious White was the offseason veteran signing back to Buffalo for a nice reunion, and he might have a big role in the early going.
