While they haven't quite been able to return to the Super Bowl, the Buccaneers' post-Tom Brady era has been a success so far.
In each of the past two seasons, Tampa Bay won the NFC South, one of the weaker divisions in the league, despite never topping 10 wins. Behind Baker Mayfield, who's grown into one of the most accurate and well-regarded quarterbacks in the league, the Buccaneers have become an annual playoff threat.
In 2025, they'll be looking to take their success a step further. Despite making the postseason in each of the past five seasons, Tampa Bay has not advanced to the NFC championship in the years since its 2020 Super Bowl win.
Once again this season, the Buccaneers should benefit from playing in a division that isn't nearly as competitive as others across the league. With Mayfield getting back an elite group of weapons, a veteran roster, and some notable additions, including rookie WR Emeka Egbuka and pass rusher Haason Reddick, the team is expected to continue making noise within the NFC.
Here's a full breakdown of the Buccaneers' 2025 schedule, including the opponents, strength of schedule compared to other teams, and a prediction for Tampa Bay's record.

Buccaneers strength of schedule
Since the 2024 season concluded, the Buccaneers have known their opponents for the 2025 season due to the formulaic process the NFL uses involving divisions. Tampa Bay's strength of schedule for 2025 is purely based on the results of the 2024 season — meaning that while it is a strong indication of how hard a team's schedule will be, it won't be perfect. Some teams will improve or get worse from last year.
The Buccaneers are tied for the 14th-easiest (or 18th-hardest) strength of schedule for 2025. Their opponents had a combined .481 winning percentage last season, making their schedule projected to be somewhat balanced compared to other NFL squads.
Toughest tests: Tampa Bay is scheduled to face the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles this season, a challenge for any NFL team. However, strangely enough, the Buccaneers have had Philadelphia's number in recent years. In 2023, Tampa Bay eliminated Philadelphia from the playoffs with a 32-9 victory. Last season, the Buccaneers handed the Eagles one of just three losses all year, winning 33-16 in Week 4.
The Bills, Lions, and Rams are three more 2024 division-winners that Tampa Bay will have to travel to face in 2025. All three should make formidable opponents for Mayfield and company.
Biggest breaks: Playing in the NFC South has had its perks for the Buccaneers in recent years. That likely won't change in 2025. The Panthers and Saints both won just five games last season and still don't have elite rosters on paper. The Falcons made the division interesting in 2024, but they still finished below .500 and haven't yet proven themselves as a playoff threat in the NFC. All six division games could wind up being favorable matchups for Tampa Bay.
The Patriots and Jets are two more Buccaneers opponents that didn't perform well in 2024 and may wind up using 2025 to continue their respective rebuilds.
Buccaneers record prediction
- Over/under win total: 9.5, per BetMGM
Bottom line: Between the Buccaneers' performances over the past two seasons, the benefits of playing in a weaker division, and some added talent in the offseason, the expectation is that Tampa Bay will be a playoff team in 2025 one way or another. On paper, Todd Bowles' squad has a veteran offense with some elite weapons — but one of the most significant questions will be whether the Buccaneers' secondary can improve after a rough 2024.
Assuming full health, it would take some regression from Mayfield or more defensive decline for the Buccaneers to win fewer than seven or eight games. Of course, nothing is guaranteed in the NFL and things can change quickly, but the path is once again laid out for Tampa Bay to be an NFC playoff contender in 2025.
Ultimately, the biggest question surrounding the Buccaneers will be whether they'll again be a fringe playoff squad or a team that can make the leap to "Super Bowl contender" status.
Record prediction: 10-7
