Pretty in pink!
Sydney Sweeney continues to lean into the “femme” part of her press tour for the female boxing biopic, “Christy,” stepping out this evening in a pale pink Alexander McQueen gown for the movie’s premiere at the BFI London Film Festival.
Styled by Molly Dickson, the dress was tailored to suit Sweeney’s petite 5’3″ frame with a sequin-embellished lace neckline and flowy skirt with ruffled hem.
The design featured a corseted body comprised of dusty pink satin with boning and a ruched bust detail. The lace skirt gathered in the back, creating volume and movement as Sweeney walked the red carpet.
This is the star’s second pale pink red carpet look; she wore a custom Erdem gown in a similar shade for the premiere of “Christy” at the Toronto International Film Festival in early September.
Earlier this month, she opted for a vintage Thierry Mugler tutu dress that was more suitable for a ballet stage than a boxing ring. Worn with a cropped suit jacket with curly lapels, the ’90s-era outfit featured a plunging neckline and a basque waist bustier. She added a white mini skirt under the sheer, structured tutu, which had bows on both hips.
The actress’ London look is an interesting combination of her previous red carpet ensembles. Corsets continue to be a mainstay in her red carpet wardrobe, with her enviable bustline a focal point. However, her well-toned legs are increasingly visible, whether via short hemlines or sheer skirts.
Notably, Sweeney gained 30 pounds of muscle for the film in just three and a half months. “I weight-trained in the morning for an hour, kickboxed midday for about two hours, and then weight-trained again at night for an hour,” she told W in a special summer issue.
No wonder she’s excited to show off her lean legs.
Sweeney channeled a different superstar for her 28th birthday bash last month. She wore a star-studded silver mini dress from The Blonds’ Spring/Summer 2009 collection. Britney Spears first wore this out-of-this-world, star-studded design during her Circus album era nearly two decades ago.
Whomever Sweeney decides to portray next, we’re sure she’ll do it with her signature snatched style. And possibly in pink, too.
