Supreme Court hands down major rulings, including decision on E. Jean Carroll’s sex abuse Trump suit

The Supreme Court on June 29 declined to take up President Trump’s appeal of the $5 million sexual abuse and defamation verdict that followed a lawsuit by former advice columnist E. Jean Carroll.

Now Trump will have no choice but to pony up the $5 million to the 82-year-old, who has repeatedly claimed that the president raped her in a Bergdorf Goodman fitting room during the spring of 1996 and then defamed her by denying her claim, saying that she wasn’t his type and claiming she had made the whole thing up to boost book sales.

The Supreme Court also handed Democrats a massive win heading into the midterm elections, upholding a Mississippi law that allows mail-in ballots to be counted up to five days after Election Day so long as they are postmarked by voting day.
