Suns injury update: Grayson Allen's status uncertain

1 hour ago 2

The Phoenix Suns have battled injuries throughout the early portion of the season, continuing a trend that has tested their depth and rotation. Jalen Green remains the team’s most notable absence, having appeared in only two games due to a lingering hamstring strain. Dillon Brooks has also missed stretches of time, leaving the Suns without key contributors as they attempt to build momentum.

Despite the setbacks, Phoenix has begun to trend upward. With Thursday’s win over the Indiana Pacers, the Suns extended their winning streak to five games and improved to 8-5. The run has pushed them back into the mix in the Western Conference after a slow and uneven start.

A major reason for the surge has been the play of Grayson Allen, who continues to deliver some of the best basketball of his career. Allen has emerged as a reliable scoring option next to Devin Booker, particularly in Green’s absence. His breakout stretch includes a career-high 42 points against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night. Through the first 13 games, Allen is averaging 18.5 points, 4.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds. Should those numbers hold, this would mark the 30-year-old’s highest scoring season since his 2023-24 campaign, when he averaged 13.5 points.

However, the Suns may be without Allen in the short term. Head coach Jordan Ott added him to the injury report Saturday with a right quad contusion, according to NBA reporter Duane Rankin. Allen is listed as day-to-day, and Ott indicated the team does not believe the injury is serious.

Phoenix is off Saturday before hosting the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday. If Allen is unable to play, the Suns are optimistic he could return Tuesday when they travel to face the Portland Trail Blazers.
