The Phoenix Suns have surged in recent weeks, winning six of their last seven games despite a mounting list of injuries. Their latest victory came Tuesday against the Portland Trail Blazers, a game in which Phoenix relied heavily on its defense. The Suns forced 19 steals—five of them from defensive standout Ryan Dunn—and held Portland to just 24 percent shooting from 3-point range. The Blazers connected on only 10 of 41 attempts from beyond the arc.
Their next challenge arrives Friday, when the Suns host the Minnesota Timberwolves. But once again, Phoenix will be shorthanded. Jalen Green remains out as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury that has sidelined him for 13 games. Green has not yet been given a clear timetable for return.
Adding to Phoenix’s concerns, guard Grayson Allen will also be unavailable. Allen was added to the injury report over the weekend with a right quad contusion. Initially labeled “day-to-day” by head coach Jordan Ott, the issue has lingered longer than expected. He missed Sunday’s game against Atlanta, as well as Tuesday’s win in Portland, and has now been ruled out for Friday.
Allen had been enjoying a career-best season before the injury, averaging 18.5 points per game. That stretch included a 42-point performance against the New Orleans Pelicans in early November. His previous career high in scoring was 13.5 points per game, set during his first season with Phoenix in 2023-24.
The Suns will also be without rookie Rasheer Fleming, who was added to the injury report with a right ankle injury.
Following their matchup with Minnesota, the Suns will remain at home for back-to-back games against the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday and the Houston Rockets on Monday.
