“Submit him in the first round” - Christian Lee eyes quick and explosive finish of Alibeg Rasulov at ONE 173

Two-division ONE world champion Christian Lee of Singapore and the United States has no intentions of going the distance with his challenger, Alibeg Rasulov.

These two will meet again in one of five world title fights at ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri, taking place this Sunday, Nov. 16, in Tokyo’s Ariake Arena.

'The Warrior' has always taken matters into his own hands and holds the most finishes in ONE Championship history with 16.

In his rematch with the undefeated Turkish dynamo, Lee wants to erase all questions by retaining his ONE lightweight MMA crown in the most definitive way possible.

The double champ told South China Morning Post (SCMP):

"I think I'm going to take him down and submit him in the first round. I think that there's a lot of different ways this fight could go. But, if I was to call it, a nice fun way would be to just take him down and submit him, get my paycheck."

Lee’s desire to reassert his dominance over Rasulov stems from their first meeting last year, which ended in controversy due to an inadvertent eye poke.

The Prodigy Training Center representative was adamant that he was winning that fight and didn’t have any problem proving it once more at ONE 173.

Christian Lee and Alibeg Rasulov's highly-awaited rematch is just one of five world title bouts in ONE Championship's biggest event in history.

'The Warrior' has been part of some of the promotion's massive events over the years, but admits ONE 173 is its most prestigious one yet.

"I'm excited to be the double champ and then defending my belt, my lightweight belt in Japan. It's exciting," Lee told SCMP. "This card is massive. It just feels like a big event and a very historic one, and I'm happy to be a part of it, and I'm just excited to be back in there."
