Anthony Kim called out Michelle Obama in a sharp post on X after a clip from her recent book-tour appearance began circulating online. The former PGA Tour pro, who frequently weighs in on social and political debates, referenced his wife Emily while pushing back against Obama’s claims.
Kim argued that Obama was exaggerating the issue, saying that his wife, who also has naturally curly hair, chooses to embrace it rather than tie it to societal expectations. He reshared the video and addressed the former first lady directly, writing:
“Let me Xplain something 2 @MichelleObama My white wife also has curly hair but unlike u complaining about everything that black ppl go thru she chooses 2 embrace it. If ur so confident Y do anything 2 B accepted & liked by others? Every race deals w something. Pls stop racebaitin”Let me Xplain something 2 @MichelleObama My white wife also has curly hair but unlike u complaining about everything that black ppl go thru she chooses 2 embrace it. The viral clip that triggered Kim’s response showed Obama speaking about how beauty standards around hair impact Black women. She said that the pressure to keep hair straightened to fit “white beauty standards” can deter many from activities like swimming or even the gym due to the effort required to maintain the style.
“Let me explain something to white people. Our hair comes out of our head naturally in a curly pattern. So when we're straightening it to follow your beauty standards, we are trapped by the straightness,” Obama said in the video. She added that keeping hair straight was “exhausting” and “expensive,” urging people not to comment on or touch Black women’s hair. Despite being relegated from LIV Golf, Kim has remained active in the sport. He recently played the Moutai Singapore Open and finished in T43 at 8-under. He often shares practice sessions and tournament updates on social media, including opinions on political topics. In an earlier post, Kim had even taken a jibe at former U.S. Representative Katie Porter.
When Anthony Kim slammed a Democrat
Anthony Kim had also criticized former U.S. Representative Katie Porter earlier this month. In a post shared on October 10, he compared her behavior to that of a bully and questioned how people could support her. He wrote:
"FUNdamentals startin 2 come 2gether. Only taken me almost 2 years🤷♂️. 1% BETTER SOBER is DOPE 🔥 ALSO how does any1 like @RepKatiePorter let alone voluntarily vote for her? IT is a bully 🤷♂️."FUNdamentals startin 2 come 2gether. Only taken me almost 2 years🤷♂️. 1% BETTER SOBER is DOPE 🔥 ALSO how does any1 like @RepKatiePorter let alone voluntarily vote for her? IT is a bully🤷♂️
Anthony Kim voicing his political views online is nothing new. He has regularly shown support for Donald Trump and the Republican side while calling out Democratic leaders when he disagrees with them.
Porter recently appeared in an interview with CBS Sacramento correspondent Julia Watts, where the conversation turned tense. Watts asked how she expected to appeal to the 40% of Californians who voted for Trump, and the exchange quickly grew confrontational. Porter later said the interview was “unnecessarily argumentative” and even hinted at walking out.
Anthony Kim reacted to that incident as well. In another post, he took a swipe at Porter and criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom. He accused Newsom of damaging California. He claimed that Newsom blocked a bill that would have increased firefighter salaries.
