Stephon Castle injury update is bad news for Spurs

San Antonio Spurs guard Stephon Castle made a big-time effort play against the Los Angeles Lakers in the second quarter of their Tuesday night clash.

The evolving former No. 4 overall pick chased down Rui Hachimura on a fast break and successfully swatted his layup attempt. Unfortunately, the ball wound up in Luke Kennard’s hand for an easy, uncontested putback, and Castle landed hard on his back.

Castle headed to the locker room after his harsh fall, and a recent injury update regarding the 2025 Rookie of the Year isn’t good.

“Stephon Castle has a pelvic contusion and will not return to tonight’s game against the Lakers,” ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel wrote on X/Twitter.

Pelvic contusions aren’t always easy to recover from, which could result in a multi-game absence. Considering Castle is a significant reason why the Spurs boast a 36-16 record through 52 games, and have a chance to dethrone the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference.

Of course, the Spurs have plenty of weapons to help them stay afloat if Castle misses time on the hardwood. Still, there’s no denying that Castle’s two-way presence would be missed significantly.

Castle is averaging 17.1 points, 7.0 assists, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game with the Spurs this season. On the bright side, the Spurs are poised to secure a 20+ point victory over the Lakers without Castle in the lineup.
