Game 1 of the NBA Finals was close almost the whole way through until the New York Knicks pulled away in the fourth quarter. The San Antonio Spurs are hungry to bounce back, and they are confident they will do so in Game 2.
Victor Wembanyama already showed that he is not too worried immediately after the game. It seems this is a team-wide mindset because fellow star player Stephon Castle is also quite aloof ahead of Game 2, as they seek an opportunity to tie the series at 1-1 as the series shifts to New York City.
Stephon Castle is already raring to go and bounce back in Game 2
For most of Game 1, the Spurs were in control as they were doing a great job defending Jalen Brunson. Unfortunately, the Spurs were also not getting into rhythm, especially Wembanyama. That came back to bite them in the fourth quarter because that was the time when Brunson took over.
Now, the Spurs are down 1-0 in the series after missing out on a winnable game in Game 1. They will not have the home court advantage anymore, but it seems the Spurs are fine with the result. Like Wemby, Castle is exuding confidence.

Castle himself had a good performance in Game 1, as he did well defensively against Brunson for most of the game. Unfortunately for Castle, the great players always find ways to impact the game, and that was what Brunson did. Despite that, Castle is confident in the Spurs getting payback in Game 2.
"Most of our team's first time in the NBA Finals. Obviously, a big moment for a lot of us. We're overly excited to get out there and play; that could be part of it. We've been down in a series before, I think coach Mitch said it best that all Playoffs, it's taken more than a half to get settled in the game," Castle said on Friday about the Spurs being ready to bounce back.
"I think Vic said it best, I don't think we have anything to be too worried about. We feel like we're the better team. We didn't play well and still had a chance to win."
That is a healthy mindset to have ahead of Game 2 because the Spurs know they can win this series. They are confident, but they are still realistic with their performances. By looking back at what they can improve on, the Spurs will be even more dangerous in Game 2 of the Finals.
