The Golden State Warriors can’t afford to lose Stephen Curry.
With Jimmy Butler sidelined for the remainder of the season, the franchise will rely heavily on Curry to provide superhuman offensive contributions.
On Friday night, Curry suffered a lower-body injury that could be problematic down the line.
“Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry was ruled out during the second half of Friday night's game against the Detroit Pistons because of right knee soreness,” ESPN’s Anthony Slater reported.
“Curry made a stumbling layup despite being fouled with 4:28 left in the third quarter, but he began grimacing and limping after the whistle, experiencing discomfort in his right knee. He checked out of the game 20 seconds later, met briefly with trainers, and then limped to the locker room.”
The fact that Curry was unable to finish the Warriors’ late-week clash vs. the Pistons is concerning, at the very least. When Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic injured his ankle against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday, he eventually found his way back to the hardwood, allowing diehard fans to exhale knowing his injury wasn’t significant.
On the contrary, Curry, who’s dealt with knee issues throughout the year, remained out for the rest of the Warriors’ latest contest, causing speculation to run rampant.
Curry’s next injury update will give fans an idea of the severity of the four-time NBA champion’s setback.
