Stephen A. Smith, Josh Hart and all Knicks fans lost their minds after Jalen Brunson’s series-winner

Jalen Brunson’s late-game heroics made everyone go crazy.

During the Knicks’ series-clinching 116-113 win in game 6 over the Pistons on Thursday, Brunson had a game-high 40 points, including the game-winning shot with just 4.3 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Scores of people across sports media — and beyond — went wild after what was perhaps Brunson’s biggest shot of his career.

Brunson’s teammate Josh Hart wasted no time following the game to shout out his point guard on X, writing the Knicks star’s name in all caps with multiple shouting emojis.

Hart finished the game with 13 points, 10 rebounds and four assists while shooting a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.

ESPN commentator and noted Knicks fan Stephen A. Smith also showed his enjoyment for Brunson, posting, “YYYEESSSSSSSS!!!!!!! Brunson to the rescue. Go NY! Go NY! GOOOOO!!!!!!!” on X.

Hall of Fame pitcher and former Yankee star CC Sabathia had high praise for the 2025 NBA Clutch Player of the Year, saying: “Jalen Brunson is a bad bad man,” on X.

Former Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist’s post was simple.

“Jalen Brunson, that’s the tweet,” he wrote.

Yankees radio broadcaster Dave Sims also took to X to support Brunson and the Knicks, calling on them to defeat Boston in the next round of the NBA playoffs.

Outside of the sports world, Brunson’s dagger got the reaction of many celebrities, including actor Jerry O’Connell, who posted a video on X.

“We want Boston…we want Boston,” O’Connell yelled out.

Actor and director Ben Stiller also expressed his support through a series of posts on X, with one addressing NBA broadcaster Mike Breen’s rare “double bang” call after the shot.

Comedian Jon Stewart was clearly excited following the 28-year-old’s performance, posting “BRUNSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

With their first-round win over the Pistons, the Knicks are set to face off against the Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals, with Game 1 starting Monday.
