Stephen A. Smith has a special lady in his life.
The ESPN personality, who tends to keep his personal life private, was pressed about his dating life during a guest appearance on “The Howard Stern Show” with Chris “Mad Dog” Russo, his “First Take” debate partner, on Wednesday.
“There is,” Smith, 57, said when asked by Stern if he has a “special lady” in his life. “You’ve got to remember something, guys, I cover sports, that’s true.
“But the industry has evolved to the point where — and I’m not bragging, I’m just speaking fact — I’m more popular than 95 percent of most of the athletes I cover. So as a result of that, you’re in the news constantly. So you’ll know who that person is when she’s Mrs. Stephen A. Smith.”
Smith, who has never been married, did not share the woman’s name.
Russo went on to explain how Smith is a romantic and recalled their previous conversation about marriage.
“He has told me in the past, quietly, that yes he thinks there might be [marriage] down the road,” Russo said.
“I want to get married someday. It will happen someday,” Smith chimed in.
“He’s more romantic than you think he is,” Russo said, adding that he could see Smith proposing over a “candlelit nice Italian dinner” in Rome. “He won’t let anybody know about it.”
Smith has two teenage daughters and it is unclear who the mother of his children is.
In July 2023, Smith was photographed lounging on the beach with a mystery brunette while on vacation in Barbados.
The woman’s identity was never revealed and it is uncertain if it is the same woman Smith is referencing in his interview with Stern.
In a 2019 profile, the “First Take” host told GQ he was engaged once, but “it didn’t work out.”
When asked why things didn’t work out, Smith told the outlet it’s none of their damn business — a frequent line he uses on television.
