Stefon Diggs remains a free agent, but that won't continue for all that much longer.
He's clearly still talented enough to be a top-two or top-three WR for almost any team in the NFL. After a bit of an uncertain offseason, the former Vikings, Bills, Texans and Patriots star can start looking for his new team.
The team that keeps coming up is the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Raiders clearly don't have much proven talent on their wide receiver depth chart. They also just drafted their hoped-for franchise QB, Fernando Mendoza, with the No. 1 overall pick.
It'd make a lot of sense for Vegas to give Mendoza someone reliable to throw to, and Diggs fits that bill.
Diggs just helped elevate Drake Maye in New England, and Mendoza could be next.
ESPN's Aaron Schatz wrote in a new article on Thursday that he thinks the last major thing the Raiders need to do this offseason is sign Diggs.
"Diggs was the dependable No. 1 target who helped the Bills' Josh Allen significantly improve," Schatz writes. "Then he was the dependable No. 1 target who helped the Patriots' Drake Maye significantly improve. So why wait for Fernando Mendoza's second season to get him a dependable No. 1 target who can help him significantly improve? The Las Vegas receiver depth chart is severely lacking, and Diggs was still good enough to finish fourth among wideouts last season in ESPN analytics' receiver score. This one seems like a no-brainer."

The one real question in the Vegas passing game is whether the Raiders will actually allow Mendoza to play much as a rookie. They seem intent to let Kirk Cousins have the QB1 job in the early going.
Cousins would surely appreciate a target like Diggs, too, especially with their shared Vikings background.
The move would be mostly about Mendoza, though, so if the Raiders think he'll be ready, they should get him a proven top target.
