Steelers try to trade for Saints’ Chris Olave, but a second-round pick is too much for injury injury-prone star

The Pittsburgh Steelers could be bringing in another wide receiver to entice Aaron Rodgers to finally sign with the team by trading for Chris Olave.

After trading George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a third-round pick, the Steelers have an abundance of picks to use as trade fodder for next year’s draft, 12 to be exact, per Adam Schefter.

That's a lot of picks to use for rebuilding your team and potentially making another run for a Super Bowl, one that was only held back by having a terrible offense.

Ross Jackson, the host of Locked On Saints, doesn’t believe Pittsburgh is that eager to land Olave.

“The Steelers traded a second and sixth for DK Metcalf. I doubt the #Saints would even entertain anything involving Olave for a less than a second (and still probably would be a long shot). I doubt Pittsburgh is looking to cough that up after the DK trade,” Jackson said.

The Saints could be unloading and trading away a player who has been so injury-prone would be a good thing, and it would make it suspicious that the team would be tanking to get Arch Manning in the 2026 NFL Draft.

A second-round pick, though, is a little too much for someone who has been hurt so often, but a third-round pick would be perfect.

Not to mention, Olave would be Pittsburgh’s problem when he gets hurt in the middle of the season, and not the Saints, who are focused on rebuilding and finally being out of cap purgatory for the first time since some can remember.
