Steelers rumor reveals interest in award-winning 6-foot-4 wide receiver

The Pittsburgh Steelers are doing their homework on wide receivers ahead of the 2026 NFL draft and appear to have interest in one of the better ones in this year's class.

According to The Athletic's Mike DeFabo, the Steelers are scheduled to meet with Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston in a pre-draft visit.

"Denzel Boston is scheduled to meet with the Pittsburgh Steelers for one of his many pre-draft visits, a league source told," DeFabo reported."

The 6-foot-4 wide receiver is widely viewed as a borderline first-round pick. ESPN's Mel Kiper has Boston as his No. 5 wide receiver.

Boston capped off his collegiate career with 62 catches for 881 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns en route to earning third-team All-Big Ten honors.

The Washington product took part in his pro day on Tuesday and the reviews were positive, according to The Athletic's Dane Brugler.

"A lot of positive feedback from scouts on WR Denzel Boston's pro day yesterday. Looked really good with his route work and catching the ball. 6.80 3-cone, 4.30 shuttle, 37 1/2 vert at 210 lbs will play just fine," Brugler said.

Boston doesn't have elite speed and has shown inconsistency in getting separation, but he is a good route-runner and utilizes every inch of his massive frame to win  on contested catches, and he can be a menace near the goal line with that frame.

The Steelers finally managed to address their need for a No. 2 wide receiver via the trade for Michael Pittman Jr., which gives Pittsburgh a solid one-two punch when combined with DK Metcalf.

However, the Steelers still need more depth and youth behind those two, so it makes sense to invest in Boston, who could potentially take the reins as a key receiver in Pittsburgh's offense down the road.

In the short term, Boston would serve as depth and while he's strictly an outside wide receiver, that won't prevent him from seeing the field because Metcalf and Pittman both have experience playing in the slot.

While we would prefer to see the Steelers draft a wideout with more speed, we would not hate it if Boston ends up in Pittsburgh in 2026.
