The Pittsburgh Steelers have played some decent football this season, and you could argue they've been better than most expected entering the season.
At 3-2 in a tough AFC North, the Steelers still have work to do, sitting in third place behind the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens, but there have been plenty of bright spots.
The Steelers have won two of their last three games, but it won't get much easier: they'll take on a decent Tampa Bay Buccaneers team despite their record, a squad that looks above average.
After that, the Steelers face a tough stretch: the Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Ravens in a row.
That wouldn’t be easy for any team in the NFL, especially one with the questions the Steelers had entering the season. If things go as planned, the Steelers are going to win a lot of those games to at least keep themselves afloat and have a chance to make the playoffs, but anything is possible as of now.
If things go as predicted, Pittsburgh should land somewhere between picks 15 and 20 in the 2027 NFL Draft.
They should have a chance to land a quarterback, since that's currently their biggest need. It was recently predicted they'd land Trinidad Chambliss, the Ole Miss quarterback, at No. 16.
“The Steelers can’t continue relying on stopgaps at quarterback,” McGuinness wrote.
“Maybe Drew Allar or Will Howard is the future at the position, but it’s hard to pass on a talent like Chambliss. He has earned an 82.2 PFF passing grade so far this season and has done an impressive job of avoiding negative plays. He has produced a turnover-worthy play rate of just 2.5%, while his 14.3% pressure-to-sack rate is also impressive.”
Chambliss has shown a lot of good during his time at Ole Miss, proving that there's a real argument that he's the best quarterback in all of college football this year. He also impressed a ton last year with Lane Kiffin and decided to stay with the Rebels this year after Kiffin left for LSU.
In five games this season, he's been Heisman-worthy in nearly all of them, throwing for 1,435 yards, 11 touchdowns, and posting a top-15 QBR of 83.0. He can also change games with his legs, currently posting 113 yards on 32 carries for five touchdowns.
