Steelers predicted to land Bears $80 million free agent star in post-draft signing

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a massive splash acquisition this offseason to address the wide receiver position, as the team traded for DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks.

Though Metcalf is one of the most explosive receivers in football and should form a dynamic duo with George Pickens, Pittsburgh could still be in the market for another playmaker to help out whoever their starting quarterback will be in 2025.

The Steelers passed on a pass-catcher in the draft, but For the Win's Cory Woodroof predicts general manager Omar Khan will make a blockbuster post-draft signing by adding Chicago Bears free agent wide receiver Keenan Allen.

"The Steelers could hypothetically trade wideout George Pickens at some point this offseason, and Allen would give Pittsburgh an excellent veteran presence to pair with DK Metcalf for the 2025 season," Woodroof wrote.

Though Pittsburgh signed Robert Woods on Monday, that shouldn't take them out of the running for Allen. Woods is merely just a solid depth piece who will provide valuable veteran leadership and playoff experience.

Woodroof believes the Steelers could trade Pickens, but the franchise should hold onto the young receiver and sign Allen to pair with him and Metcalf. The six-time Pro Bowler is a savvy route runner who would be the perfect No.3 receiver and security blanket for the offense.

Though Allen had a down year for his standards in 2024, the 33-year-old is still a capable player who has never posted under 60 catches and 700 yards in a healthy season. Allen is also just two years removed from an outstanding 2023 campaign with the Los Angeles Chargers, where he tallied a career-high 108 receptions.

Pittsburgh should look into the possibility of signing Keenan Allen and taking their wide receiver group to the next level in 2025.
