Steelers GM Omar Khan reveals draft day plan for Colorado's Shedeur Sanders

The Pittsburgh Steelers are heading into the NFL Draft with just two quarterbacks on the roster, unless a trade is made before Thursday. The Steelers have been in talks with the Atlanta Falcons regarding Kirk Cousins, but the Falcons are asking teams to cover too much of his remaining salary.

Pittsburgh could go in various directions when it comes to drafting a quarterback, but for now, it seems to be between Shedeur Sanders and Jalen Milroe.

“Even adding a veteran wouldn’t preclude the Steelers from taking Milroe, who has incredible tools and won teams over during the interview process,” Nate Tice wrote.

However, based on how the draft meetings and interviews have gone, it certainly seems the Steelers are leaning toward Sanders.

“I still think that Shedeur makes sense for the Steelers because I hear that he and Mike Tomlin had a great meeting,” Peter Schrager said.

The mutual interest between Sanders and Pittsburgh is evident, especially from what he said after meeting with the Steelers earlier this month.

“I understand the mindset and why they win a lot. … What he (Mike Tomlin) preaches from the top down is like my dad. … It was a 10,” Sanders said.

With the Steelers having the flexibility to go in multiple directions on draft night, GM Omar Khan made the team’s draft intentions clear.

“We go to camp with four quarterbacks. Right now, we have two on the roster. All options are on the table for how we acquire those last two,” Adam Schefter posted.

The Steelers are exploring every possible option, but it seems likely they will select a quarterback in the first round. The question now is whether Sanders or Milroe will still be available. This comes after Pittsburgh's failed attempts to acquire Justin Fields and Russell Wilson.
