DK Metcalf has been the No. 1 wide receiver for Aaron Rodgers on the Pittsburgh Steelers' offense. But instead of it being Michael Pittman taking over as the No. 2 option, the Steelers have been relying heavily on Roman Wilson this year.

The former Michigan wide receiver has finally broken out, and there's been plenty of optimism about Wilson this year, especially as his connection with Rodgers grows.

However, those plans are on hold, as ESPN's Jeremy Fowler is reporting that Wilson is going to miss some time with a finger injury. It's not just a one-week issue either; this injury for Wilson appears to be a multi-week issue.

Steelers get bad news as Roman Wilson injury is multi-week issue

"Steelers WR Roman Wilson is expected to miss a couple of weeks due to a finger injury, suffered Sunday, per source," Fowler reports. "He's still gathering info and seeking a second opinion."

Unfortunately for the Steelers, it's looking likely that they're going to be without Wilson for the next few weeks due to this finger injury.

Behind Metcalf, rookie receiver Germie Bernard is going to have to play a much bigger role than he has so far this season. He's shown potential, and he's someone Steelers fans can get excited to see in an expanded role.

However, losing Wilson amid a breakout season is a huge shame for the Steelers offense. The full extent of his likely absence isn't known, but seeing him seek a second opinion is typically not a good sign for his availability going forward.

This is an injury issue worth paying close attention to, as the updates on Wilson's finger injury will reveal his timeline, and it could be a lengthy absence or just a few weeks on the sideline to heal up.

His status is very much up in the air, but he's likely to miss time, and most likely multiple weeks based on Fowler's report.
