The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking for answers going into their Week 5 game against the Indianapolis Colts. The Steelers are 2-2 in a competitive division, so if they want to rise in the standings, they'll have to beat the 2-2 Colts.
When it comes to Pittsburgh's offense, quarterback Aaron Rodgers, of course, is at the helm. But he needs targets, and one of this team's best and most frequent targets for Rodgers is DK Metcalf. Now, the NFL is punishing Metcalf for some of his actions in the team's Week 4 game against the Cleveland Browns.
DK Metcalf fined for taunting
Every weekend, the NFL sends out a report with its weekly punishments for holding players accountable for their actions during the prior week's games. According to its official website, "The rules are intended to protect the players from unnecessary risk, promote player safety and emphasize sportsmanship and respect of teammates, opponents, coaches, officials and fans."
In this weekend's report, the wide receiver was fined $11,941 for unsportsmanlike conduct due to taunting at 10:02 in the first quarter. So, what exactly did he do? During the game, he threw the football toward the Browns defense and said something to them as they were getting off the ground. It was after an 11-yard reception. At the time, the Steelers got hit with a 15-yard penalty for his actions, but the NFL deemed it important enough to add a fine to the penalty.
So, it's just something Metcalf has to deal with ahead of the Colts game, but it's nothing new in the NFL. The Steelers will keep at it for the next several weeks, as their bye week isn't until Week 9.
