Steelers, Commanders named possible trade suitors for brutally honest 329-yard wide receiver

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Commanders could both be in the market for a wide receiver ahead of the trade deadline.

The Steelers will almost certainly be, as Aaron Rodgers is working with a lackluster group of pass-catchers that is headline by DK Metcalf. Behind Metcalf, there are nothing but question marks.

The Commanders have dealt with several injuries at wide receiver this season, so they profile as a team that might be in the market for an addition at the position.

However, Washington does appear to be getting healthier, as Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel are expected to return to practice. Even still, Washington is still missing valuable depth thanks to Noah Brown's injury.

Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox has a solution for both teams after he named the Steelers and Commanders as possible trade suitors for Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers.

While Meyers (knee/toe) was inactive for Week 7, he's expected to be available after Las Vegas' Week 8 bye. Receiver-needy teams should see if he can be available for them in Week 9.

Meyers will be a free agent in the spring, but he won't turn 30 until late next season and has had stretches of terrific play. He topped 1,000 yards last season and already has 43 catches in 2025.

Potential Suitors: Pittsburgh Steelers, Washington Commanders

Meyers requested a trade out of Las Vegas during the offseason after he failed to get a contract extension from the team. With Meyers set for free agency in 2026, and with the Raiders sitting at 2-5, a trade seems inevitable.

Adding to that, Meyers was brutally honest when asked about his desire for a trade after practice on Tuesday, so nothing has changed in terms of his wanting out of Vegas.

"Oh, for sure," Meyers said Tuesday when asked if he still wants to be dealt. "But I'm a professional at the end of the day. I'm just trying to play good football. If I'm here, I'll play good football. If I'm not here, I'll go out there and play wherever I'm supposed to be."

Barring the Commanders dealing with more injury issues with McLaurin and Samuel in the next few weeks, we would rule them out for a Meyers trade. Washington is more likely to make a smaller depth addition instead.

The Steelers are one of the top possible landing spots for Meyers, who has proven to be a top-flight No. 2 option during his career thanks to four 800-yard seasons, including a 1,000-yard campaign in 2024.

He would be just what the doctor ordered for the No. 2 role behind Metcalf, as he would instantly provide the upgrade Pittsburgh so desperately needs.

And, he may thrive more than ever with the Steelers, as Rodgers would easily be the best quarterback he has ever played with outside of one season with Tom Brady.

Meyers is probably going to be expensive as arguably the best receiver available, but that shouldn't be an issue for the Steelers, who are flush with draft capital during a season in which they appear to be all-in.
