It was recently announced that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will return for one last season in 2026. The 42-year-old arm-slinger will be giving it one last go, with hopes being that a ride off into the Super Bowl sunset is in order.

Looking back on his career, where does he rank amongst the other quarterbacks? There are the ones that came before him, like Joe Montana, Steve Young, and Dan Marino. The ones that he faced off against, like Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Drew Brees. Not to mention the ones of tomorrow, still carving their names into the history books like Brock Purdy, Lamar Jackson, and Patrick Mahomes.

There is one more name to add to that list: the player who took Rodgers under his wing with the Green Bay Packers in the mid-2000s. That would be Brett Favre.

In a recent ranking by Fox Sports that listed the greatest of all time at the QB position, Rodgers was ranked fifth. He was ahead of Favre on the list, and rightfully so.

At this point, Rodgers has beaten Favre in nearly every statistical category, except for passing yards, where Favre holds a lead at 5564 yards. Both quarterbacks defined their era of throwers, and both were considered at the top of their class every single season.

Rodgers has one more chance to try and one-up Favre in the one category that they are tied in, which is Super Bowl wins. The Steelers have built a solid team around him, but it is still going to rest on his shoulders and, more importantly, his arm to win football games in 2026.
