Spurs linked to French 1st-round pick as free agent signing to join Victor Wembanyama

The San Antonio Spurs' future at center is, of course, Victor Wembanyama.

But they could use some bulk inside to allow Wemby to be his unicorn self all over the floor.

Enter Guerschon Yabusele.

NBA insider Jake Fischer writes that the Spurs are the most likely team to get Yabusele away from the 76ers in free agency.

Yabusele is an awesome story. He was a first-round pick by the Celtics who never quite broke through, so he went to play in Europe. There, he was dominant for Real Madrid.

Then, he suited up for France in the 2024 Paris Olympics and was a monster. So the 76ers signed him, and he looked like a totally different player than he did in his first NBA go-round.

Now, he's made for the Spurs. He was Wembanyama's France teammate, and he's the type of interior presence they didn't necessarily have this past season.

Yabusele is 6-foot-8, 260 pounds. He averaged 11.0 points and 5.6 rebounds this past season while shooting 38% from 3.

Lots of teams should be interested in him, so it'd be a huge win if the Spurs are the ones who get Yabusele to join them.
