Spurs fans think Victor Wembanyama recruited Giannis Antetokounmpo live on camera because of a misleading post

The San Antonio Spurs beat the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night in a demonstration of where both teams appear to be headed this season.

The Spurs' 119-101 victory was another demonstration of San Antonio's championship credentials, as San Antonio pulled into a tie with the Denver Nuggets for the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. The Bucks, meanwhile, remain on the outside looking in: Milwaukee is two games behind the Atlanta Hawks for the 10-seed in the East.

After the game, an interaction between Giannis Antetokounmpo and Victor Wembanyama made the rounds on social media.

A post on X that has been viewed 1.1 million times as of Friday afternoon claims that Wembanyama was recruiting Antetokounmpo to join him in San Antonio, amid persistent trade rumors that have loomed over the two-time MVP since the summer.

"If you're serious, Jeremy Sochan's gone by morning," Wembanyama purportedly said, in reference to the Spurs' fourth-year forward.

However, there is no evidence that Wembanyama actually made a pitch to Antetokounmpo, let alone indicated that he would ask the Spurs to trade Sochan. The X post in question is the work of the parody account @TheNBACentel.

That didn't stop many on social media from chiming in, though.

"That's a scary team (for real)," wrote the official PrizePicks account.

"That’s wild fr," wrote one X user in reference to Wembanyama's falsified quote.

"Bro wild for this," another said of the fake interaction.
